Tutorial 4: Light Sequences
The light sequences are quite simple on our devices once you get the hang of them. Currently we have two difference devices that I will be reviewing and that is the Gemtek and the Microtracker's signal lights. These lights are positioned in the upper right-hand portion of the device, and will start blinking after the device has been turned on and until the device is turned off, or until it runs out of battery power.
Signal Lights:
Stage 1 (Boot up sequence started, registering GSM/Cellular tower)
Straight Blue = both devices will do this first sequence when they are first turned on, they are booting up and searching for a cellular tower
Blinking Blue = Again both of the devices will go through this phase, when the blue light starts blinking it has found a cellular tower to connect to and it is now registering.
Stage 2 (Cellular coverage acquired, registering GPS/Satellite coverage)
Blinking Green = After about 2 minutes your device will start blinking green, this means that your device is currently connected to a cellular tower and the GPS chipset is now trying register with a satellite to obtain a location. To speed this process up place your device in a window or outside where the device can get a location from a satellite easier
Stage 3 (GSM / GPS coverage obtained)
Blinking Red / Green = after the device has run through its first two stages, it will start blinking red and green when it has obtained a GPS signature. Now you are ready to use your device, you can request locations or submit any kind of signal to your device you like.
Stage 4 (If your GPS coverage is lost)
Blinking Blue / Green = If your device was blinking red and green, but is now blinking blue and green, that just means your device has traveled outside of GPS coverage, and if you ever tried locating the device while it is in this state, our software will let you know that the device is in a "stored" location, and it will give you the last known location. As an example, if you bring your device into a school, then request a location for the device, the device will report you as a stored location at the front of the school. The device will automatically pick back up red and green after you leave the school and start working normally after.
